Melanie Sallis, native Austin Texas artist, discovered the power of artistic expression from an early age. Born into a creative household and surrounded by Austin’s unique artistic vibe in the 70’s, her love of art blossomed. Drawing from personal experiences her artwork is an expressive collection with a huge range of emotional complexity. Expressing something profound and mysterious within our nature, she uses a variety of media ranging from acrylic and oil to mixed media and collage. She also portrays a more playful side in her illustrative work, watercolor washes color pencil layers of quirky creatures. Primarily self-taught she attended Laguna Gloria Art School, ACC and UT informal courses to develop new skills. She became a mother of 3 wonderful boys and eventually found herself with a brush in hand, reinventing herself again as a multidisciplinary artist. Using new creative ideas, she aspires to broaden her influence in the art world. Her talent has been recognized through several group shows and business venues in Austin, Texas.
